Want a refund for your SEPTA pass? Better mail it in quickly

SEPTA passengers who purchased weekly and monthly passes are eligible to receive a full fare refund due to reduced efficiencies caused by the removal of the Silverliner V fleet, the transit authority announced Tuesday.

Jeff Knueppel, SEPTA's general manager, said Tuesday that the refund effort represents the transit agency offering an olive branch to riders who have to deal with scaled-back service. 

"We are definitely looking out for our customers in that regard," he said. 

Passengers who purchased July TrailPasses or Cross County Passes or weekly passes for July 4, must return their passes by mail to receive the refund. Envelopes must be postmarked by Thursday, July 7 and sent to SEPTA, P.O. Box 58609, Philadelphia, PA 191012-8849. Riders should note Silverliner V Pass Refund on the envelope.

Passengers also can opt to receive fare credits for a future pass by presenting their TrailPasses or Cross County Passes at any of the major SEPTA sales offices. The credits will be valid toward the purchase of future passes beginning Monday, July 11 through Monday, Oct. 10. 

A weekly Cross County Pass for July 4 can be exchanged for a fare credit of $5. Monthly Cross County Passes can be exchanged for a $20 fare credit.

Zone 1 and 2: $5

Zone 3 and Anywhere: $10

Monthly July Trail Pass

Zone 1: $20

Zone 2: $25

Zone 3: $30

Zone 4 and Anywhere: $35
