The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre is celebrating 20 years in production with two popular Shakespearean plays this spring. "Macbeth" will be the first to premiere, with its opening night April 6. "Twelfth Night" follows on April 15.
Both plays run through late May. The exact dates vary throughout the months but performances scheduled on Wednesdays through Saturdays will be at 7 p.m., and those on Sundays will be at 2 p.m.
For those who need a Shakespeare refresher, "Macbeth" is a tragedy that tells the story of a Scottish general who receives a prophecy saying one day he will become King of Scotland. He becomes consumed by ambition and, spurred on by his wife, murders the current king.
"Twelfth Night," on the other hand, is a comedy centered around a woman who disguises herself as a man and the countless love triangles that pop-up because of her guise.
The same cast will perform both productions.
