Firefighters in Camden have extinguished a blaze that broke out at scrapyard on Sunday afternoon, sending plumes of smoke into the sky as the Eagles opened their 2016 season against the Cleveland Browns at Lincoln Financial Field.
Some fans posted images of the smoke on Twitter and wondered what the source of the thick black smoke might be.
I heard what sounded like a fighter jet and now there is smoke rising from an area in the city. What's going on?

Any ideas on the black smoke being seen from the Eagles game, possibly over in jersey? @6abc pic.twitter.com/GKpSPMsz1M

According to 6ABC, the fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. at Camden Fire and Metal on the 1400 block of South Front Street. It was brought under control by around 4:30 p.m.
Camden Fire Department says black smoke that can be seen from Eagles game is from a large rubbish fire.

There were no injuries or damage reported beyond the scrapyard itself.
