Almost a week after it was reported (Alex Kennedy had it first), the Sixers officially announced today that they signed swingman Brandon Paul.
The terms weren’t disclosed, but according to Basketball Insiders, the Sixers signed Shawn Long and James Webb III to partially guaranteed contracts for $543,471 in the first year, $65,000 of which was guaranteed. If Paul’s deal isn’t identical, an educated guess would lead you to believe that it’s in the same ballpark.
Paul played with the Sixers in Las Vegas. In six games, he averaged 19.5 minutes, 10.7 points (.39/.36/.86), 3.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals. The Sixers aren’t only signing players from their own summer league team, though. Last week, The Vertical’s Shams Charania reported that they agreed to terms with former NC State point guard Cat Barber:

The Sixers haven’t officially announced the Barber signing, presumably because they’re already at the offseason limit of 20 roster spots. If that report is true (and it’s from a very good source), the front office would need to make a corresponding roster move to make room for Barber.
Paul is still a longshot to make the Sixers roster, but he would likely be headed to Delaware as an “affiliate player.” Here’s the rule:
Up to three players released from the roster of an NBA team before the D-League Draft can be allocated to that team's D-League affiliate provided they sign the standard D-League contract.
The 25-year-old Paul has previously spent time playing in both Russia and Spain, as well as the D-League.
