SEPTA released new schedules on Saturday that will be in effect next week for several of its Regional Rail lines.
The schedule updates, available on SEPTA's web site, reflect expanded service – with additional railcars – on five lines: Glenside Combined, Lansdale/Doylestown, Manayunk/Norristown, Paoli/Thorndale and Warminster.
SEPTA will put 10 railcars – leased from the Maryland Area Regional Commuter agency – into service. Five will get rolling Monday, and the other five by mid-week, according to a statement by SEPTA's director of media relations, Carla Showell-Lee.
SEPTA had already agreed to lease five railcars from MARC, and will lease five more, bringing the total of leased passenger cars to 28. The agency is leasing railcars from Amtrak and NJ Transit, which are already in service.
“This is an evolving process, and we will continue to make changes to optimize service for our customers,” said General Manager Jeffrey D. Knueppel in the release. “We are extremely grateful for the use of this additional rail equipment. MARC, Amtrak and NJ Transit have been great partners in what is a very challenging time for our customers.”
In the release, SEPTA urged riders to check these schedules before planning their commute for Monday morning, and reminded riders that there are alternate modes of transit, including bolstered service on the Market-Frankford, Broad Street and Norristown High Speed Lines and Route 101/102 Trolleys.
