Philadelphia commuters awoke from the holiday weekend to a transportation service that abruptly took about one-third of its trains out of service; needless to say, many weren't happy.
SEPTA announced Monday that 120 cars — about 13,000 seats — had been removed after the discovery of a structural defect.
Travelers expressed their frustration early and often Tuesday on Twitter over the modified schedules, bypassed stops and crowded trains. A sampling:
Basically no trains in service and yet somehow still endless waiting on tracks for ... who knows. C'mon @SEPTA.

When you have to leave an hour early to get to work and stay at work an extra hour to get home. That's SEPTA.

Eric Negron of SEPTA's social media team, for his part, was seemingly ready for the hectic commute Tuesday, responding to tweets with questions and complaints about the modified schedules at an impressive pace.
