Dozens of speakers added for Democratic convention in Philly

Update, Thursday, July 21: The Democratic National Convention Committee announced Thursday a list of dozens of additional speakers for next week's Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Among the speakers are a roster of Pennsylvania and New Jersey politicians, including U.S. Sens. Cory Booker and Bob Casey; U.S. Reps. Brendan Boyle and Bob Brady; Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf; and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.

A roster of headlining speakers was announced Friday for the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

The speakers, announced by Hillary for America and the Democratic National Convention Committee, were selected to "showcase enormously popular national leaders, rising stars from across the country and a diverse range of everyday Americans who will inspire the nation," said a news release.

The convention will be held nightly from July 25 to 28 at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia.

Here's the schedule and theme for each of the four nights:

Monday: United Together

Speakers: First Lady Michelle Obama, Senator Bernie Sanders and DREAMer Astrid Silva, who will share her story and her fight to keep families together.

Gavel time: 3 p.m.

Focus: The future of American families. An economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top is stronger. The nation is stronger when everyone has a chance to live up to their potential. 

Tuesday: A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families

Speakers: President Bill Clinton and Mothers of the Movement, including members Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner; Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin; Maria Hamilton, mother of Dontré Hamilton; Lucia McBath, mother of Jordan Davis; Lezley McSpadden, mother of Michael Brown; Cleopatra Pendleton-Cowley, mother of Hadiya Pendleton; and Geneva Reed-Veal, mother of Sandra Bland.

Also speaking will be four advocates from Philadelphia: Thaddeus Desmond, a child advocate social worker; Dynah Haubert, a lawyer who works for a disability rights organization and teaches those with disabilities to advocate for themselves; Kate Burdick, a staff attorney at the Juvenile Law Center; and Anton Moore, founder of a nonprofit community group that strives to bring awareness and educate youth on gun violence.

Gavel time: 4 p.m.

Focus: Roll call vote. Hillary Clinton's career of working to make a difference for children, families, and country.

Wednesday: Working Together

Speakers: President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden

Gavel time: 4:30 p.m.

Focus: An in-depth look at what's at stake in the election. Hillary Clinton has experience and steadiness to united people to tackle big challenges and get results.

Thursday: Stronger Together

Speakers: Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton

Gavel time: 4:30 p.m.

Focus: Hillary Clinton speaks about her vision for our country and her belief that America is at its best when working together to solve problems.

Additional speakers will be announced closer to the convention, according to Hillary for America.
