Today is the sort of day you really learn whether you're an optimist, a pessimist or a crybaby at heart.
It's nothing if not crushing that Carson Wentz is done for the year with a torn ACL.
Wentz was having an MVP season, rapidly growing into a franchise leader and driving the narrative of the 2017-18 NFL season — until a leap into the end zone took it all away.
It's now up to Nick Foles to be "our baby," as Eagles fan Larry Poff famously said of Jeff Garcia when the veteran quarterback took over for an injured Donovan McNabb during the 2006-07 season.
With an 11-2 team, we should all be looking to find our inner Poff. Some of us, unfortunately, will not. There will be those for whom the grief over this seemingly lost season of destiny is simply too much to bear.
On Monday morning, one caller named Chris was so emotional about the Wentz injury that he burst out in tears during a conversation with Angelo Cataldi. If you think you feel like death today, just be glad you're not poor Chris (h/t CrossingBroad for the audio).
