Report: Philly will host 2017 NFL Draft, official announcement coming Thursday

A few months ago, it was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Philadelphia was a leading candidate to host the 2017 NFL Draft. Well, Schefter is now saying it’s a done deal, one that will officially be announced tomorrow.

The NFL will congregate in Philly next spring:

Of course, Cleveland owns the Eagles’ top selection in 2017 thanks to the Carson Wentz trade. Is this not the most Philly thing ever? The NFL finally decides to come here and it’s the year that the Eagles don’t even have a first-round pick. Somehow, this is Roger Goodell’s fault.

Philadelphia has actually hosted 16 NFL Drafts, including the first one in 1936, but it has been a while. The last time that the NFL came to Philadelphia for the draft was 1961, when it was hosted at the Warwick Hotel. They just might need a bigger venue this time around.
