According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Jason Pierre-Paul had his right index finger amputated. Schefter not only reported it, but he went as far as to post Pierre-Paul's medical chart on Twitter:

Schefter then went on to say that Pierre-Paul could be back out on the field "sooner than people think."

Pierre-Paul was quiet for a couple years after an outstanding 2011 season, but he broke out again in garbage time last season, racking up nine sacks in his last five games. When he is at his best, Pierre-Paul is probably the most talented pass rusher in the NFC East. While he may return to the field soon, the notion that hands aren't important for a defensive lineman is a silly. To be determined how much the loss of Pierre-Paul's right index finger will affect his play.
Pierre-Paul was franchised tagged by the Giants, and is set to make $14,813,000 million in 2015. The Giants were reportedly working on a long-term contract extension for Pierre-Paul, but have since shelved those negotiations.
The Eagles face the Giants Week 6 and Week 17.
