Maxwell signed with the Eagles as a free agent last offseason on a six-year, $63 million contract. He got lit up like a Christmas tree in the season opener by Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons, and had some bad moments the following week against the Dallas Cowboys. And then of course there was that time Maxwell rode on the back of a Cardinals tight end for like 80 yards:
As the 2015 season progressed, the Eagles scaled back what they asked of Maxwell, and he played much better, although certainly not up to his pay scale.
Maxwell is scheduled to count for $9.7 million on the Eagles' salary cap this season. The Eagles can save $4.9 million of that if they can trade him. He would count for $4.8 million on their cap in that scenario.
We'll update as we learn more.
