Burger joint PYT is closing and will be leaving the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties in order to move into Fishtown across from the new Fillmore music venue with a larger location, Philly.com reports.
Owner Tommy Up told the website that he came to the Piazza in 2009 because of developer Bart Blatstein's involvement, but he felt the location lost its local connection when he sold most of his shares in the property.
The new restaurant is set to open in May of next year.
Conversely, PYT will open a location in New York City on Thursday, Oct. 8.
An employee at PYT confirmed to PhillyVoice that staff were informed in a meeting over the weekend about the closure and move.
The restaurant has gained national attention for both appearing on television and controversial incidents including the LeSean McCoy tip controversy.
The new Philly spot will sit a stone's throw away from Live Nation's new concert venue at the corner of Frankford and Delaware avenues.
Philadelphia's own Hall & Oates put on the venue's debut concert on Oct. 1.
The new PYT., which will be inside a former warehouse at the corner of Canal and Allen streets, according to Philly.com, will also sit nearby to The Barbary, a bar and dance club located across from The Fillmore on Frankford Avenue.
