The Philadelphia School Reform Commission passed a new transgender policy Thursday that includes allowing students the select the pronoun they go by, the bathrooms and locker rooms they use and the sports teams they try out for, eliminating gender barriers.
According to Philly.com, the policy was passed "without debate or comments from the public" and it makes formal what was already informally happening in Philadelphia schools.
According to Philly.com, the policy also states that participation in interscholastic competitive sports teams and contact sports "will be resolved on a case-by-case basis."
