The Philadelphia School District's cafeteria workers will see a bump in their paychecks.
According to a joint press statement issued by the district and its cafeteria workers' union, UniteHere, the district’s lowest-paid cafeteria workers will see their hourly wages jump from $11.13 an hour to $12.85 by the end of the term contract.
The new contract, formalized Monday, extends through September 2019.
The Philadelphia Public Schools Notebook published the statement on Monday evening, which also notes the contract includes "improvements to the health and welfare fund, a 3 percent ratification bonus, implementing the city of Philadelphia Living Wage rate as of August 2017" and more.
