If we weren't already scrutinizing our food choices enough, there is now a SmartPlate that chronicles your meals and alerts you when you're overeating.
Invented by Philadelphia's own
Fitly, the plate comes with three digital cameras and weighs your food. Image recognition technology enables the SmartPlate to detect exactly what you're eating and how many calories it's worth.
This thing is smart. It can even tell white bread from wheat bread.
The information is then transmitted to a corresponding app on your phone. The end goal is to make users more aware of their diet.
Fitly has launched a
kickstarter campaign to raise the $100,000 they need to produce the SmartPlate. For just $149, you can score one for yourself. SmartPlates will ship in the summer of 2016.
