No longer Lickety Split, and no longer 2nd State Lounge, a high-turnover South Street location is reborn as MilkBoy South Street.
MilkBoy South Street will open its doors Aug. 2, at Fourth and South streets. A spinoff of the 11th and Chestnut location, the new MilkBoy is not totally dissimilar to its older sibling: Downstairs is a large, glass garage door opening up to a bar that seats 12, along with a seating area for table service. Upstairs, of course, is where patrons can take in live music at one of the oak bar's 24 seats, or plant themselves at a table. (Thankfully, those tables can be folded to make room for shows that demand more standing room.)
Chris Beyer, a Garces alum, will be in charge of the menu — which, in addition to other sandwiches and entrees, will place an emphasis on a variety of French fries. (With its own takeout counter, to boot.) Six drafts, one a nitro, will be on tap at all times — all from Pennsylvania. A cocktail program is also being developed.
MilkBoy South Street will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. In addition to the South Street location, MilkBoy will open an additional venue at the University of Maryland later this year.
