Leon Bridges, Usher, Future to headline 2016 Roots Picnic

The ladies of 'Broad City' make the announcement

The lineup for the 9th Annual Roots Picnic has been announced -- and with a flourish: The ladies of hit comedy series "Broad City" (Ilana Glazer and Wayne, Pennsylvania's own Abbi Jacobson) were enlisted to create a video naming this year's performers as they plan out their ideal Roots Picnic day. As it turns out, that will include headliners Leon Bridges, Future and Usher backed by The Roots.

R&B superstar Usher and rapper Future, of course, have long, established careers, but Bridges is relatively new to the scene. The Texas soul singer blasted onto the music scene in 2015 with his hit debut album "Coming Home." With a throwback '60s style and silky-smooth vocals, Bridges has been in demand since, appearing everywhere from "Saturday Night Live" to the American Music Awards, and picking up a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album along the way. Considering his last show in Philadelphia sold out very quickly, local audiences will surely be excited about this year's Roots Picnic headliner.

The rest of the lineup includes Blood Orange, Swizz Beatz, DMX, Rich Medina, Willow Smith, Lolawolf (featuring Zoe Kravitz), Kehlani, Kaytranada, Ibeyi, Jidenna, Metro Boomin, Migos, Lil Dicky, Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, Everyday People, Paris Monster and Tish Hyman. Plus, local acts GoGo Morrow and Lil Uzi Vert will be representing Philadelphia.

Philly's own Questlove and Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter bring their annual festival and its impressive lineup back to Philadelphia's Festival Pier Saturday, June 4. Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 5, at noon at RootsPicnic.com.

Check out Glazer and Jacobson's announcement video below -- but be warned, it's laced with profanity.
