The Flyers are celebrating their 50th anniversary this upcoming season, and as you can see above, they have decided to incorporate gold into a new alternate uniform that was unveiled earlier today. Heck, you can take a look below, too:

“It will be an incredible honor to be able to wear this anniversary jersey in front of our fans this season,” Claude Giroux said in a statement. “It is a great tribute to this team’s first 50 years. I know the team will play with pride wearing this on home ice.”
The sweaters, which the Flyers say were approved by Ed Snider “upon first sight” in December 2015, also feature a golden anniversary patch. The team will wear these jerseys a total of 12 times at home during the upcoming season, including the home opener on October 20th against Anaheim.

Although some of the players seem happy with their new uniforms, the fan reaction on Twitter and other social media platforms was largely mixed. From here, it’s certainly not hard to see why. Even for a few games, should the Flyers really wear orange and gold? For years, gold has also mostly been associated with their cross-state rivals.
Literally what I would have expected if Trump suddenly bought the Flyers https://t.co/ZUQqXva2EZ

Before training camp kicks off in a few weeks, Giroux and a few other Flyers (including Jake Voracek, who really loves Bruce Springsteen) will spend their Septembers participating in the World Cup of Hockey in Canada.
