Coast Day will take place on Sept. 10, 2016.

Pennsylvania Coast Day is a free festival at Walnut Plaza on Penn's Landing that celebrates the Delaware and Schuylkill waterfronts. The family-friendly event will place on Sept. 10, beginning at 11 a.m.

Visitors to Coast Day will enjoy:

• Free boat rides and tours
• Free rowboating and swan pedal boating
• Free T-shirts, prizes, face painting and arts & crafts
• Hands-on activities and exhibits
• Watching model boat racing

Plus, there will be a free shuttle to and from Fairmount Waterworks, where more activities are scheduled. Watch live freshwater mussel demonstrations or take a tour.

Before Coast Day, the Philadelphia Fishing Fest will take place from 7-11 a.m on the Schuylkill Banks by Walnut Street.

The catch-and-release event is free and open to the public, with no fishing licenses needed for the duration of the fest. The last day to register for Fishing Fest is Sept. 8.

Once Fishing Fest and Coast Day end, families can continue the day by exploring nearby attractions. Spruce Street Harbor Park, Adventure Aquarium and the Camden Children’s Garden are all located along the waterfront.
