Eagles beat Cowboys' second stringers, finish season 7-9

During Sunday's finale between the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, there was a lot of interest for things that were happening off the field, such as reporters being ejected and the growing friendship between Mike Trout and Carson Wentz.

On the field, an Eagles team playing its final game of the season (and its starters) took care of business against a Dallas team resting many of its key players in preparation for the playoffs in two weeks. The Birds beat the Cowboys, 27-13.

Carson Wentz finished his rookie year with a decent performance, going 27-43 for 245 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. The offensive player of the game was clearly tight end Zach Ertz, who had 13 catches for 139 yards and both of those touchdowns from Wentz:

Mark Sanchez played most of the game for Dallas — Dak Prescott got two series to start, followed by one touchdown drive led by Tony Romo — and the former Eagles quarterback had a rough homecoming. Sanchez finished 9-17 for 85 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions to Cowboy killer Jordan Hicks.

Wentz had an up-and-down rookie season, but he definitely showed some positive flashes. Eagles lead decision maker Howie Roseman is now tasked with upgrading the offensive talent around last year's No. 2 overall pick in the offseason. Thanks to the trade that Roseman made with the Vikings for Sam Bradford, the team will have a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
