The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program has a new tour schedule for 2016. In addition, the program will also host public events through the spring.
There are two new neighborhood trolley tours. The neighborhood tours are "Journey South," which focuses on South Philly, and "Looking East," which showcases new work in the Spring Garden neighborhood.
"Journey South" is the first to kick off and begins on April 30. Trolley tours depart at 10 a.m. from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) Hamilton Building, located at 128 N. Broad St. Tickets range from $28-$32.
There is also a new monthly tour "For the Love of Mosaics," which is scheduled for every third Saturday in the month. The tour follows the "Love Letters" route but ends at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Tickets are $25 per person.
As for upcoming events, here are a few exciting ones scheduled:
• April 14: View the annual Restorative Justice Art Exhibition, which features work from citizens.
• May 21: The public is invited to help create a new mural at Malcolm X Park in West Philadelphia during a "Painting a Healthy City" paint day.
• June 4: Use Philly's Indego bike share to take a ride between two murals designed by artist Candy Coated and students in the Mural Arts Art Education Initiative.
