The atmosphere at Donald Trump's Super Tuesday victory speech was ebullient, except for one man: Chris Christie.
As many commentators noticed, Christie looked more like he was attending a funeral rather than a victory speech. He introduced the candidate he had endorsed by saying, "Tonight, Donald Trump is the clear winner on Super Tuesday," then appeared to roll his eyes when the crowd cheered.
With what sounded like either boredom, fatigue or pain, he continued to drone, "But the win is important for our country."
The only time the governor of New Jersey perked up was when he said that Trump will "make sure that Hillary Rodham Clinton never gets back in the White House."
Christie's dour appearance became the leading Internet meme of the night, accompanied with the hashtag #FreeChrisChristie.

The location of the victory speech was also interesting: Just a week earlier, The New York Times had published an investigative piece on how Trump, who has promised that he will "put American workers first" in his immigration plan, has applied for more than 500 visas for foreign workers at the Mar-a-Lago since 2010. He has hired just 17 U.S. residents for those same jobs.
Evidently, Trump doesn't care much about what The New York Times writes about him.
Or maybe it was all a brilliant trick: Keep the Twitterverse concentrated on Christie's face and not on what Trump was actually saying.
