On Monday, U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle told his Twitter followers that he had it on good authority that Vice President Joe Biden would get into the presidential race.
He Tweeted later: "For people who think it's too late for Biden to run, worth remembering Bill Clinton entered the 92 race in October"
Alas, Biden is not a candidate. The longtime politician made the announcement in a Rose Garden news conference Wednesday afternoon.
Needless to say it came as a surprise to Boyle.
I'm surprised. Clearly something changed. Like many, I admire & respect VP Biden. In the meantime I'll stick to my day job!

Perhaps less surprisingly, the 38-year-old congressman from Philadelphia's 13th District heard about his political prognostication.
@RepBrendanBoyle You just lost me ALOT of money on PredictIt.

@RepBrendanBoyle you have to walk the Twitter walk of shame now.

For the record, Boyle wasn't the only one being told that Biden's candidacy was a go. A couple of other journalists reported the same.
Ed Henry, White House correspondent for Fox News, tweeted that he had three sources telling him the vice president would seek the Democratic nomination.
Three sources close to @VP telling me he's expected to announce he is running but the sources are all urging caution on 48-hr timeline

Henry tweeted out the following after Wednesday's announcement, but he did address the timing of the announcement in a Fox News report today.
Biden: "I've concluded it has closed"

Meanwhile, since Boyle is a Notre Dame grad, we'll be watching his Twitter account for some inside information about the outcome of the upcoming Temple-Notre Dame football game, which will be televised nationally.
Here's hoping sources tell him that the Fighting Irish will win big.
