New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has changed his mind and will return to his home state from the campaign trail in New Hampshire to deal with a massive snowstorm expected to start Friday evening.
"I'm sorry, NH but I gotta go home - we got snow coming," Christie tweeted just before 1 p.m. "I want to make sure the people of my state feel safe and secure. But I will be back, because I am able to do both things. The fact is - you are never not the governor."
The governor said he would return Friday afternoon and that his wife, Mary Pat, would remain in New Hampshire and pick up most of his scheduled campaign appearances.
On Thursday the governor had said he had no plans to abandon the campaign trail in order to head back home for the potential blizzard expected to impact the I-95 Corridor, NJ.com had reported.
Christie had said his decision to stay in New Hampshire through Monday will not impact New Jersey's preparation for the looming snowstorm.
"The lieutenant governor is there, and she's handling things on the ground there, and if I needed to go back I would — but at this point it's too speculative to know," Christie told NJ.com on Thursday from the road.
The National Weather Service is predicting 12 to 16 inches of snow could come down between Friday night and Sunday morning.
